C. T. Murphy

My name is C. T. Murphy. I am originally from south Alabama, a fact well-hidden by my only occasional accent. I am lifelong lover of reading, writing, and video games. Currently, I work for state government as an analyst and am pursuing a Masters in Information Technology at Florida State University.

I came to blogging a bit late. In 2012, shortly after graduating with my bachelors in philosophy and English, I missed writing. I started a blog just for the space to share personal thoughts and game reviews. I never became an influencer, but blogging was influential on me. I made some great friends despite an intermittent ability to produce content.

In the last year or two, I have become obsessed with self-improvement in my professional life. I was promoted into a high-level managerial role, but I wasn’t fully prepared for it nor did I feel supported by my employer. Shortly after, I demoted myself and around a year after that, I moved on to somewhere that I am (fingers crossed) much happier.

This obsession leaves me with many thoughts. More and more, I have grown comfortable combining my personal hobbies and habits with my professional ones. Late last year, I received certification in project management which was a great eye-opener for me in its relatability to being a dungeon master playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends. My approach to professional life also heavily borrows from my enjoyment of both old and new technology (relevant every time a coworker needs help with their computer and can’t wait for tech support) or my enjoyment of speedrunning (mostly watching Games Done Quick Events).

Beyond my Goals, I do hope that this blog will reinforce the nexus of my personal and private spheres in a way that is useful to me and entertaining to others.
